Using a Fish Table Image to Profit in Poker

Despite the complexity of Poker, there are several basic ways that can help you win more games and money. One of them is by presenting yourself as a fish or new player. Although it sounds strange, it is actually an effective technique that can bring a lot of pots.

The main benefit of this Poker strategy of course, is that it lulls your opponents into a false sense of security. A lot of players prefer to use the scare tactic approach. They go to a table wearing sunglasses, hats and just try to stare down their opponents. That will scare your opponents all right, but to the point that they will fold every hand and leave you with a tiny pot.

To win more money, you should do the exact opposite. You should project a Poker table image of someone who is only interested in playing the game for fun. This should begin the moment that you walk in the card room. You should try to talk in a light manner, and try to set the other players at ease.

As for playing the game, you should play the first couple of hands loose just to reinforce the Poker table image you are trying to project. Then you can go and play a more tight aggressive style. This includes making minimum raises with various types of hands to avoid being read.

Another strategy that you can use is to not always raise when you are in late position, particularly if the pot is small. The reason you will want to do this is to make them think that you do not know the value of position play. Later on the bigger hands, raising from the same spot with the nut hand will get you a raise, as they will think that you are just bluffing.
