Deuces Wild Guide: Strategy for Casual Players

Deuces Wild for Fun

But that positive expectation can be realized only if perfect strategy is used. One must also have the strategy memorized in order to play at a fast speed. How many players are willing to do those things?

Not many, obviously. But the good news is you can play Deuces Wild quite happily using an easy-to-follow guide. Yes, this is also a strategy, but it doesn't involve looking at a (very) long list of hands. This is a beginner's guide to playing Deuces Wild and a lot of it is just common sense advice. We encourage you to try this Deuces Wild guide. We're sure you will appreciate the game more.

Video poker's chief purpose is to entertain players. If you torture yourself trying to master advanced strategies, you aren't having fun and the game loses its purpose. Loosen up and go back to playing the game for fun. Deuces Wild lives up to its name: it is a wild, exciting game where four of a kind is a dime in a dozen and high cards and kickers don't mean squat. Have fun with this game using the strategy below.

Deuces Wild Guide

Five of a kind - Hold on to all cards.

Royal Flush - Hold on to all cards.

Four Deuces - Hold on to all cards since you can't improve it; it's already a five of a kind.

Three Deuces - Hold the deuce cards and replace the other two.

Two Deuces and two-card straight flush draw or two-card royal flush draw - Hold the four cards and get a new one.

Two Deuces and One Pair - This is really a four of a kind, so keep all four and get a new fifth card.

Two Deuces and a one-card flush draw - Here is a three of a kind. Keep them and get two new ones.

Two Deuces - Keep only the deuce cards.

One Deuce, three-card royal flush draw - A royal flush draw; discard only the fifth.

One Deuce, a Paying Hand - Keep the cards of the paying hand.

Zero Deuces, a Paying Hand - Hold on to the entire hand unless you have a royal flush draw. Choose the royal flush draw over straight, straight flush or flush hands.

Two Pair - Retain only the better pair of the two and get three new cards.

One Deuce - Keep any deuce no matter what.
